Man charged with manslaughter after running red light and crashing, killing 1, hurting 2

A driver died and two people were injuredafter a car crash near 40th and Washington streets on Tuesday morning, according to a Phoenix police statement.

According to the statement, witnesses say they saw a man in a red Chevrolet Camaro run a red light and hit a woman in her car. One of the cars spun out and hit someone crossing the street.

The woman, later identified as 40-year-old Madalena Mendonca, was pronounced dead. There was also a 19-year-old passenger in the vehicle who was in critical condition as of Tuesday evening.
